More celebrities are joining the NFT world, making the topic of celebrities and NFTs an important one to explore. The main factor is drawing celebrities into NFTs in the quest to grow their careers and increase their income. Artists such as Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton, and Gwyneth Patrow have joined the Bored Ape Yacht club, one of the leading NFT collections. Besides buying NFTs, some artists create and distribute their NFTs for money; Snoop Dogg, for instance, has created his NFT collection on Opensea. In another case, Paris Hilton, in partnership with Superplastic, has released an NFT collection – “Past Lives, New Beginnings.”

Сelebrities Buying NFTs

The list of NFTs celebrities continues to grow. Timothy Zachery Mosley is a singer-songwriter, rapper, and record producer, professionally known as Timbaland. The celebrity has expressed a lot of interest in NFTs, buying Bored Ape #590 at 74.69 ETH, around $155,846 at writing. The collection contains 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs. It is one of the most famous NFTs collections. Other Celebrities that own Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs include Eminem, Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon, Paris Hilton, Post Malone, Neymar Jr., and Madonna.

Other celebs with NFTs include:

  • Marshmello – KaijuKing
  • Steve Aoki – Clone X

  • Pranks – Doodles

Celebrities Creating NFTs – Flawed human beings and NFTs.

Celebrities’ NFTs derive value from who they are and what they do. For example, an NFT can represent an aspect of an artist’s work, identity, or any other intellectual property. If you buy such NFTs, you own a representation of that food property.

For example, if you buy an NFT representing Paris Hilton, you are investing in the future perceived value of the celebrity and their work. However, with the social challenges surrounding the celebrity world – the cancel culture and #metoo movement, it is a risk banking on the future public image of a flawed human being who can make a mistake and fall out of favor of the public.

Already some celebrity NFTs have failed to meet the expectations, reflecting the risky proposition. For example, John Cena, an actor, and former wrestler collaborated with WWE Inc. to sell a collection of NFTs. The result has not been a good one; hardly any of those items sold.

Can I sell an NFT of a celebrity?

If you had legally acquired the NFT by buying the NFTs from the celebrity, you could sell them to other users. Additionally, if you have provable permission from the celebrities to create an NFT with their items or intellectual property, then you can sell such NFTs.

What celebrity owns the most NFTs?

Some celebrities holding popular NFTs include Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon, Steph Curry, Post Malone, Justin Bieber, Madonna, Neymar Jr., Jay-Z, and Serena Williams.

Can I sell a picture of a celebrity as an NFT?

Most celebrities’ pictures have copyrights; hence, you cannot use their pictures without permission from them. Infringing copyrights and public rights are prosecutable offenses.
